Amsterdam Neighborhood
De Pijp
Foodie paradise, vibrant street life, multicultural energy, and the best market in Amsterdam.
De Pijp is where my roommate moved three years ago and now acts like she discovered it. Home to the Albert Cuyp market, a million brunch spots, and the kind of energy that makes you walk slower and eat more. It is multicultural, vibrant, and packed with restaurants from every cuisine imaginable. The Heineken Experience is here too, but honestly that is the least interesting thing about this neighborhood. Come for the food, stay for the people-watching on a terrace along Sarphatipark.
Eat & Drink
6 spotsBakers & Roasters
My roommate has been going here every Saturday for two years. The banana french toast is genuinely life-changing and the vibe is peak De Pijp.
Restaurant Rijsel
My coworker took me here on my first week in Amsterdam and I have been going back monthly. The rotisserie chicken is absurd. No reservations, show up early.
Ciel Bleu
Two Michelin stars on the 23rd floor. My neighbor took his wife here for their anniversary and said the tasting menu made her cry. In a good way.
SLA
My coworker Nina eats here every lunch break and somehow makes a salad look exciting. Fresh bowls, creative combos, and the kind of place that makes you feel virtuous without feeling deprived.
Yuan's Hot Pot
My roommate dragged our whole friend group here and now we go every month. Pick your broth, load up on fresh ingredients, and prepare for the loudest, steamiest dinner of your trip.
Ken Sushi Workshop
It is not cheap and you will wait weeks for a reservation. But the omakase here is the best sushi experience in Amsterdam and my buddy still talks about it months later.
Going Out
2 spotsO'Donnell's Irish Pub
My buddy watches every Premier League game here with a Guinness in hand. Proper Irish pub, proper pints, and the pub grub hits different when you are homesick for comfort food.
Brouwerij Troost
My roommate's go-to brewery. They brew everything on-site, the beer flights are a great way to try local craft beer, and the terrace in summer is hard to leave.
