Amsterdam Neighborhood
IJburg
Modern, waterfront, and surprisingly fun. Amsterdam's beach neighborhood.
IJburg is Amsterdam's newest neighborhood, built on artificial islands in the IJmeer. My friend Erik bought an apartment here when everyone said he was crazy. Now he has a waterfront terrace and a beach five minutes from his door. Blijburg is the urban beach that locals love in summer, and the whole area has this modern, spacious feel that is completely different from the canal ring. It is further out, but the tram gets you to Centraal in twenty minutes.
